Pero quizás el aspecto más destacado sea su conectividad Wi-Fi y su funcionalidad FTP incorporada. Este camcorder permite transportar las imágenes a los estudios centrales sin necesidad de enlaces de microondas o de una conexión por satélite, ya que basta con contar con una conexión IP para hacer llegar la noticia a la redacción.
Control desde un smartphone o tablet
Un servidor web integrado proporciona una amplia variedad de funcionalidades, desde control de la cámara a la edición de los metadatos a través de cualquier dispositivo tal como una tableta o un teléfono móvil. De esta forma, el periodista puede desde su dispositivo móvil controlar remotamente la cámara, acceder al material que se está grabando, incluir puntos de referencia de corte o metadatos para una posterior edición.
Con respecto a las funciones FTP a través de red, el nuevo camcorder de JVC permite grabar ficheros en Full HD sobre una tarjeta de memoria SDHC/SDXC al mimo tiempo que crea ficheros proxy más pequeños (H-264/MOV a 0,8 Mbps: 480×270 30p/25p/24p) en la otra. Con la función cliente FTP, es posible así transferir el audio y vídeo captados directamente desde el lugar donde se produce la noticia a los estudios centrales a través de Wi-Fi o mediante una red móvil 3G/4G (con adaptador opcional).
